Visitor Safety Measures

We’ve put in place a number of measures to keep you safe on your visit.  These are detailed below and will be reviewed on an on-going basis.

  • Access to the Cathedral will be via the main steps. There will be an accessible route to the Cathedral through the Cathedral gardens. The lift will be not be available at present.
  • On arrival you will be greeted by a member of our Welcome Team, who will be on hand to answer any questions. They will ask you to sanitise your hands before entering.
  • We will be operating a simple one-way system around the Cathedral and seating will be limited due to the social distancing measures in place.
  • The Crypt Chapel, The Lady Chapel, the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, along with all of the side chapels, will remain closed for the time being. We hope to review this shortly.
  • A member of clergy will be present in the Cathedral, and available to speak to, for much of the time we are open.
  • Some of our Cathedral staff may be wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep both you and themselves safe during your visit.
  • We have introduced an enhanced cleaning regime, paying special attention to surfaces which are touched regularly.
  • The Cathedral Car-Park will remain open, but will close at 4pm. To access the Cathedral from the Car-Park, exit on foot, turn right and follow the paved ramp up to the Cathedral.
  • Our parking ticket machine does not give change, so if possible, please bring the correct change with you.
  • There will be no access to public toilets.
  • The Lutyens Crypt and Treasury, Café and Shop will remain closed until further notice
  • We are running a revised service schedule which can be viewed here. The 11am Sunday Mass will continue to be streamed on Facebook and Youtube.
