Education Service

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King is a unique learning environment for children and students of all ages whether as an iconic place of worship, a place of historical significance or a building of great architectural and artistic note. We passionately believe a visit to our Cathedral can deeply enrich a pupil’s education – whether they’re at school, college or university.

The Education Department welcomes over 4000 school and college pupils each year. The qualified teachers who make up the Department offer a warm welcome to all age groups and abilities. Our teaching staff are retired teachers with many years of experience, who travel in from as far afield as London to work with schools and colleges here at the Cathedral.

We provide a comprehensive programme that covers a wide range of interests and subject areas for students from Foundation Stage to Sixth Form and beyond. Visits last for a minimum of one hour.

Teachers may wish to prepare a short reflection and lead their pupils in an act of worship. Pupils may also be present at a regular service during their visit and experience a community at prayer. They may participate in a service, perhaps to celebrate a recent First Holy Communion or Confirmation.

For more information, or to book a visit, please contact our secretary with suggested dates at education@metcathedral.org.uk

Advance booking is essential, and we suggest at least two months’ notice where possible. Whilst we do not charge for visits a donation would be gratefully accepted.
