THE CHAPEL OF RECONCILIATION

This Chapel, which incorporates rooms for counselling or the hearing of private confessions, is adorned with a low relief sculpture by Stephen Foster (b1952) illustrating personal and communal reconciliation. Christ on the Cross extends His arms in forgiveness as individuals and groups ask for pardon from Him and from each other. Liverpool´s two Cathedrals, Anglican and Catholic, may be discerned in the design. The inscription contains words from the homily preached in the Cathedral by Pope John Paul II during his visit in 1982.
