Piazza Art Market – starting Saturday 19th April

In most of the European Cities you visit these days, there are “open air markets” – Liverpool in its European Capital of Culture year, is getting its very own on the Piazza of the Metropolitan Cathedral starting Saturday 19th April – 12 noon to 4pm.

The Art MarketCome along and support your local art scene and enjoy some culture. Local artists and makers will be exhibiting and selling their works including….Paintings, Photographs, Limited Edition Prints, Sculptures, Ceramics, Clothing, Jewellery, Glass, Textiles, Pottery and much more….

The “free” pitches were snapped up within days of being announced highlighting the need for a platform to showcase the abundance of creative talent within our city!

Phil Redmond, Creative Director, Liverpool Culture Company, said…

“Growing up in Liverpool I remember the paintings hanging on the Bluecoat railings and street artistes displaying their work on pavements across the city. They were great reminders that Art is not just about formal galleries and major exhibitions, but about informal opportunities for people to get involved and display their own work. That’s why I am delighted that the Metropolitan Cathedral has decided to support Open Culture in encouraging people to get involved in displaying their own work. Come along and display. Come along to buy. Come along just to browse. But above all, come along and get involved in 2008.
