Christopher McElroy

Chris McElroyChristopher McElroy is Director of Music.   He studied at Huddersfield and Liverpool Universities graduating BMus and MMus respectively.   He has been Organ Scholar at Wakefield and Leeds Cathedrals before being appointed Organ Scholar at the Metropolitan Cathedral in 1999, a post he held for two years.   From 2001-2004 he was Director of Music at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in New Jersey, USA, a post he held for three years.  

In September 2004 Christopher returned to England and was appointed as Assistant Diocesan Director of Music for the Diocese of Leeds, working at St Anne's Cathedral, where he was responsible for the renowned singing programme, which worked with over 2,000 children each week across the diocese.   He is currently cpmpleting a PhD thesis with Liverpool Hope University on the reception of the Liturgical Constitution of Vatican II here in England.

January 2012 saw Christopher returning to Liverpool as Director of Music.    His wife Pauline is a teacher of music and they have a son, Alexander.
